Phil Gill is a theatre director and performer from St. Louis, MO. He holds his BFA in Musical Theatre performance from Drake University, in Des Moines, IA. While there, Phil performed in Pippin, The Boyfriend, and Romantic Comedy, among other shows. Phil also worked several other positions around the theatre, was the president of Drake Theatre People, and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. After leaving Drake University, Phil moved to Birmingham Al, where he worked with Birmingham Festival Theatre, and also Muse of Fire Theatre company where he played Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In 2009 Phil returned to St. Louis, where he worked with Act Two theatre as both an actor and an Assistant Director. The next year found Phil working with the Missoula Children’s Theatre out of Missoula, MT, with whom he toured the Wizard of Oz all over the country as a Tour Actor/Director.
After his tour, Phil attended Lindenwold University, where he received his MFA in Directing. He performed in A Man of No Importance there as well as directed Stop Kiss, and his thesis project, The Last 5 Years. Phil also facilitated a Viewpoints workshop at Lindenwood, and lead a character building workshop at the Missouri State Thespian Convention entitled The Meat on the Bones. Outside of his work at Lindenwold, Phil has also worked with St. Louis Shakespeare, Magic Smoking Monkey, First Run Theatre and made his return to Act 2 Theatre. In 2018 Phil became a board member of First Run Theatre. Phil continues to direct and occasionally perform around the St. Louis area.
